What If It Were Easy? From Burnout to Boss Goddess with Christina Barsi
Sometimes the universe has to knock you down—literally—to set you back on your true path.
That’s what happened to Christina Barsi, founder and CEO of Avant Haus Media, creator of BossGoddess.co, and host of the Boss Goddess Podcast.
She’s a former actor whose journey through burnout, two concussions, and a creative rebirth led her to a deeper understanding of what it means to live and create in alignment.
In our conversation on Carrie On!, we explored how podcasting became her tool for healing, how she learned to trust her intuition again, and why the simple question “What if it were easy?” changed everything.
From Actor to Aligned Creator
Barsi came to Los Angeles to pursue acting—with all the headshots, auditions, and endless advice that come with the territory.
But she quickly realized something was off:
“It became all business. Everyone was telling me who I should be and how to fit into a box. I felt drained and confused.”
Her creative energy was being stifled by constant rebranding and external expectations. Eventually, she reached a breaking point:
“I just stopped. I quit everything. I fired my agents. My dream was dying—but it was also the first time I asked, ‘Who am I without this?’”
That pause opened up space for new ideas—and for the first time, she followed her curiosity without a plan. She started writing a sci-fi story, exploring quantum theory, and reconnecting with her imagination.
And then, in a very LA twist of fate, a bartender conversation turned into an invitation to record her story as an audio drama—long before podcasting was mainstream.
“It changed my life. We recorded for two years, and I realized, this is it. This is my creative flow.”
That project eventually became her first podcast and planted the seed for Avant Haus Media, her now-thriving production and content marketing agency.
When the Universe Hits Pause (Literally)
Just as her business was taking off, Barsi’s world turned upside down again.
“In 2019, I had two concussions. Everything went dark—literally. I’d have to sit in silence for hours because I couldn’t open my eyes.”
At a time when podcasting was booming, she was forced to slow down and rebuild her capacity.
“It was brutal, but it also forced me to face what I’d been ignoring—my own burnout. I had to hire before I was ready, create new systems, and learn to work with my energy, not against it.”
It was during this recovery that she deepened her Reiki practice, connecting to universal energy and healing through stillness.
“Reiki helped calm my nervous system. When I couldn’t move or think, I could still breathe and reconnect with that life force energy.”
Podcasting as a Mirror for Alignment
Through it all, one thing remained constant… Barsi’s love of podcasting. But not just as a creative outlet as a mirror.
“Podcasting is both an amplifier and an alignment tool. It reflects back whatever’s going on inside you—the good and the messy.”
She believes your podcast (and your business) will always mirror your energy. If you’re out of alignment, your work will show it. If you’re connected to your purpose, everything flows.
“People come to me saying, ‘I want to go viral.’ But that’s a moment, not a mission. You need your why before your product. The purpose comes first.”
That philosophy has shaped her agency’s mission-driven approach. She doesn’t just produce shows; she helps founders, coaches, and creatives align their voice with their values.
The Magic of Small Shifts
When Barsi works with clients who feel stuck or overwhelmed, she guides them back to their intuition through what she calls self-attunements—gentle practices to reconnect with your inner wisdom.
One of her favorite reframes:
“I realized I was saying, ‘This is so hard,’ all day long. So I started asking, What if it were easy? It sounds simple, but that one question changed how I solved problems.”
It’s the kind of subtle, soulful shift that can move mountains over time.
She also reminds us that procrastination often isn’t laziness—it’s a sign of fear, perfectionism, or overwhelm. The antidote? Compassion and curiosity.
“You don’t need to take a leap. Just ask: What would it feel like to trust myself? Then take a baby step.”
From Guide to Goddess
Though Barsi is a certified coach, she prefers the term guide.
“My purpose is to help people remember that they are powerful—that they already have the answers. I just help them find them again.”
And she walks that talk, too—relying on her own circle of support (including a fellow member of the BRA Network community, Joy Guide June) and her husband to remind her to pause, breathe, and eat between creative bursts.
“It’s easy to forget your own advice when you love what you do. But that’s why community matters.”
Final Wisdom
As we wrapped our conversation, Barsi offered one last piece of advice for anyone standing on the edge of their next chapter:
“You don’t have to jump. You just have to ask, What would it feel like to trust myself? Let that question guide your next step.”
Because maybe—just maybe—reinvention doesn’t have to be hard.
Maybe it can be easy.
