Bucket List Travel Over 40: Why Adventure in Midlife Matters More Than Ever with Two Peacocks Travel
Midlife has a way of sneaking up on us. For years, we’ve been running households, building businesses, raising children, caring for aging parents, and checking off the boxes of what life is “supposed” to look like. But somewhere along the way, many of us forget that our own dreams deserve a place on the list, too.
That’s why the latest episode of the Carrie On! podcast hosted by yours truly struck such a powerful chord. I sat down with Sandy Correa and Ana Gaona, the fun founders of Two Peacocks Travel, to talk about midlife reinvention, the power of sisterhood, and why now is the perfect time to embrace adventure.
What started as a six-week trip to Spain turned into so much more: a women-owned boutique travel company that curates immersive, soulful, impact-driven group adventures across the globe. From Machu Picchu birthdays to hot air balloons over Morocco, Sandy and Ana are helping women step out of their routines and into life-changing journeys.
The Case for Adventure in Midlife
So why does adventure matter more now than ever?
We’ve earned it. After decades of showing up for everyone else, midlife offers a rare chance to finally ask: What do I want? Adventure allows us to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished while daring to dream about what’s next.
It resets our perspective. As Ana shared, “We give women the permission they didn’t know they were waiting for.” Whether it’s climbing a mountain in Peru or walking the Camino de Santiago, travel pushes us past fear and into wonder.
New experiences + connection fuels growth. The Two Peacocks’ group travel model is designed to help women forge friendships quickly and deeply. When you’re navigating new streets in Cuba or laughing over mezcal in Oaxaca, bonds are built that last long after the trip ends.
It’s never too late to begin again. Sandy reminded us, “You can start something new at any age. This is our third chapter, and we’re writing it boldly.” That’s a message we all need in midlife: the courage to pivot, reinvent, and write our next chapter on our own terms.

Adventure as a Businesswoman
At BRA Network, we know entrepreneurship is its own kind of adventure. It’s risky, exhilarating, and deeply rewarding. But it can also be isolating.
That’s why stories like Sandy and Ana’s are so powerful—they remind us that taking leaps, trying new things, and finding your “travel besties” applies in business just as much as it does abroad.
Adventure doesn’t always require a passport. Sometimes it’s launching a new offer, applying for a speaking gig, or joining a community of women who’ve got your back. But whether in business or travel, adventure is the path to growth.
Your Permission Slip
If you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to dust off that bucket list or to put yourself first, this is it. The fear isn’t real, it’s just unfamiliar.
As Sandy said: “Don’t wait for someone to say yes. Be your own yes. Book the trip.”
Because midlife isn’t the end of the story… It’s the start of one of the best chapters yet.
